Ask ten suppliers for proof of compliance and nine will send the same glossy certificate scan. It tells you almost nothing: no lab name you can verify, no report number, no list of the standards actually applied.

A real test report has a number you can check with the issuing lab, names the exact directive and harmonised standards, and lists the model numbers it covers. If the model on your proforma invoice is not on that list, the mark on the machine is decoration.

Before you place a deposit, ask for the report number and the lab contact. A factory that owns its testing will hand both over in one email. A trading company will need a week — and that week tells you what you needed to know.
